The new vaccine is a bivalent one directed against the original 20:20 strain and the BA1 omicron strain. The prevalent type now is the BA5 omicron strain (with a little BA4) so the manufacturers are relying on a cross-reaction to confer sufficient immunity. Given that disease is now much less severe the risk benefit analysis, to me, indicates that the risk of side effects (including cardiac complications) outweighs the benefits of the vaccine for the majority of people. Of course, the situation is different for certain groups of people who may be particularly susceptible to disease. I will not be having the vaccination this time around, I did have the original two-shot starter course with a booster somewhat later.

Really glad to get extra protection

I've already had four jabs and am eagerly awaiting the fifth one. Those who refuse should think back to the 'old days' when smallpox, TB, polio etc. killed or maimed thousands on a regular basis. I think those who refuse to be vaccinated should be refused treatment—harsh, I know, but they are the 'spreaders' in the main. I still wear a mask in public places to keep myself safe, and will continue to do so.

Of course, why would you not? As a “baby boomer” I have seen the help vaccinations have had in reducing the anguish of serious illness and death. Anti vaccers either have short memories or should sit with those others in a dark room with a foil hat. YES! I know that it is their freedom of choice, but I personally think they are selfish when there is a risk to their families and others. If it is their right not to be vaccinated, it should be other's right to be protected from them by exclusion or segregation. YES! Unworkable and impracticable, but an attractive proposition.

@Billythequiche

Don't be so nasty. The human body is quite capable of taking care of itself, if it is left alone to do the job. Drugs and injections of ferociously damaging unknown products, leave the body totally deprived of its ability, due to the misguided instructions it gets from drugs. So, just put a sock in it . Your opinion, your right to express it. I would suggest not expressing it to the parents of a child victim of: smallpox, TB, Whooping Cough, Measles, Polio, Diphtheria or any of the scourges of the early 20th century.

With all due respect of your views, if you were dying, would you refuse drug treatment of any sort? Would you do the same for your family?

Feel safer taking it.

These vaccines are literally lifesavers, and we feel so much safer having had 3 already. We definitely want the 4th when ready to keep living life without Covid-19.

Yes, me and my husband would definitely have the new vaccine. So far it's helped us stay safe, so with this new strain of Covid-19 we would want to be vaccinated with this new vaccine.

I cannot see the big deal here as we already have the vaccines. So when I am advised to take the next jab I will just do it.

Yes, of course-anything to get rid of Covid-19.

ED: So as you can see, from the random selection of readers comments, the Government's blanket TV, Radio, and News media brainwashing has been almost 100% successful amongst the 'Silver-Surfer' brigade.

As a pensioner and a 'Silver-Surfer' myself, I despair and pity them.
